Greenford High School offers a great opportunity for students and who are have a great interest in
Japanese but were unable to study it for GCSE. ABC Japanese is a course that
allows beginners to achieve a valuable qualification, especially for those
hoping for a career that views Japanese as a useful skill. The full course has 2
separate awards; 1 in speaking and listening, which requires only one lesson a
week, and another in writing and reading which requires two lessons a week. The
course is also available to teachers who have an interest in learning another
language. In the past, students who have participated in the weekly lessons have
all passed, with many of them attempting the next entry awards

Suitable for complete beginners; one lesson per week a Award is available within one year.
Entry 2 Award in Reading and Writing:
You need to learn the Japanese scripts called hiragana (46 letters) to be able to read and write basic information. You need additional one lesson per week.

The Entry 2 and Entry 3 Awards and Certificates in Japanese are qualifications designed for Post-16 students who wish to acquire language skills for their work or alongside their work, who would like to try a new language or who would like to keep up the language skills without taking a GCSE or A level course.
Progression Routes:
The ABC Japanese is a valuable qualification alongside any other option choices as it provides a useful skill that is highly sought after. However, it is particularly useful for those considering a career using the language for communication. Even with this level of language, students will find that such a qualification will immediately put them at an advantage in an environment where employees with language skills are increasingly hard to find.
